EMU Ready for 2016-2017 Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) 2016-2017 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony is set to take place on Tuesday, the 31st of January 2017. The ceremony will be taking place at EMU LMP Sports Complex at 2:00 p.m. With over 20 thousand students EMU is a locomotive institution of higher education that combines academic, social and cultural life. EMU is living the excitement of graduating approximately 1400 students from their respective programs.

1053 associate and undergraduate degree students and 346 master’s and PhD students will be graduating from Eastern Mediterranean University during the 2016 – 2017 Academic Year Fall Semester. Including students from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkey, students from 106 different countries will be graduating at the ceremony. All units have completed their preparations to ensure that the ceremony is carried out successfully and joyfully. 

To make sure that the ceremony is flawless, a general rehearsal will be taking place at the LMP Sports Complex on Monday, at 09:00 a.m., the 30th of January 2017. After the rehearsal, a Graduation Reception will be held in honor of the graduates and their families at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. The said reception will commence at 7:00 p.m.

The graduation ceremony will start with a moment of silence and the national anthem. Next, there will be student speeches in English and Turkish. Following the symbolic tree planting ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam will deliver his opening address. Prof. Dr. Osam’s speech will be followed by protocol speeches. The ceremony will continue with diploma awarding to faculty/school and department top scoring graduates by the protocol. Doctoral and master’s, as well as undergraduate and associate program graduates will then be presented their diplomas.

After the throwing of caps, famous Turkish-Cypriot pop-singer and EMU graduate Buray will perform a concert. The graduation ceremony will come to an end after the concert. EMU 2016-2017 Academic Year Fall Semester Graduation Ceremony will be broadcast live on BRT 2, Channel T, Diyalog TV, Kıbrıs Genç TV and EMU TV.
