    EMU Signs a Collaboration Protocol with Polytechnic University of Tirana

    During the visit, Prof. Dr. Osam expressed his pleasure in hosting the representatives of Polythecnic Tirana University of Albania in Eastern Mediterranean University. Rector Kaçani expressed his fascination with the international standards and high quality in education offered in EMU and stated that they are extremely honored to establish a collaboration protocol with EMU. After the two rectors signed the collaboration protocol, an additional protocol aiming to strengthen the collaboration between two architecture faculties of the aforesaid universities was signed by EMU Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Şebnem Hoşkara, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özlem Olgaç Türker and Polytechnic Tirana University Architecture Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Andrea Maliqari and Vice Dean Gjergji Islami.
    The protocols settled will enable both institutions to share information and research findings as well as to exchange students and academic staff members. Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen, Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca and Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan represented EMU administration at the collaboration signing event. At the end of the event, Prof. Dr. Osam presented lefkara lace handicrafts to the guests.

    The Second Great Success of the Graduate of the Department of Industrial Design of Eastern Mediterranean University

    Doğuş Bodamıyalızade, a graduate of the Department of Industrial Design in Faculty of Architecture, Eastern Mediterranean University, was awarded with the second prize in one of the leading international Green Design competitions, 'GREEN DOT AWARDS' in transportation category. The aim of this competition which was initiated in 2008, is to encourage and promote the sustainable and environmental friendly designs. Doğuş has participated to this competition with his futuristic car named 'Magneto Car' which is a 4 person vehicle that can be divided into two separate units when necessary to provide freedom of movement for the owners. The vehicle is a green vehicle which operates with solar and kinetic energy power. Doğuş had developed this project during his study in the Department as a project for Industrial Design Studio V. This is the second time he is awarded with an international award for this project. His first award for the project was a 'Runner up' award in 'A Design' competition, one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world.
