Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Faculty in collaboration with the Design Club, 4th EMU International Design Week commenced with an opening ceremony at EMU Architecture Faculty at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 21 May 2014.
IntDW2014_EMU taking place with the theme of 'Collaborative Creativity' and under the coordinatorship of Banu Tevfikler Çavuşoğlu and Pınar Uluçay Righelato will house numerous colorful activities until 23 May 2014. During her opening address, EMU Architecture Department Dean Prof. Dr. Şebnem Önal Hoşkara stated that '4th International Design Week' will create a multiperspective platform housing a lot of collaborative work. Prof. Dr. Hoşkara put forth that the event will host numerous workshops with the participation of international guests.
During his speech at the opening ceremony, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman Yılmaz expressed his interest towards architecture and thanked all those who have contributed to the event. Following Prof. Dr. Osman Yılmaz, Vice Rector for Student Services, Social and Cultural Affairs Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam thanked all those who contributed to the event and assured that the Rector's Office will facilitate and support similar activities.
Within the framework of the Design Week, 14 workshops, 6 seminars, 2 competitions and various creative activities will take place. Among notable names who will be contributing to the seminars and creative workshops are Dr. Bo Tang and Odel Jeffries from London Metropolitan University, Iranian-Italian designer Kamran Afshar Naderi and Neslihan Ercan and Boran Ekinci from Turkey. Apart from Architecture Faculty, 4th International Design Week will also house the activities of the Department of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design, EMU Student Clubs, Cyprus International University and the Institute of İzmir Higher Technology.
