Oikodomos Project Progress Exhibition
“Oikodomos Project Progress Exhibition” has held in the Huseyin Ateshin Exhibition Room of the Faculty of Architecture, Eastern Mediterranean University on 25th of October 2011. The exhibition was organized by the EMU Oikodomos Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Beril Ozmen Mayer from Housing Education Research and Advisory Center (HERA-C). She has given a complementary speech about the project activities in the last last academic year, and how this network can be developed in the prospect of further studies.
The Dean from EMU Architecture Faculty, HERA Center’s director and members, the
departmental chairs have been attended among other teachers, graduate
and undergraduate students, teaching assistants architects and citizens.
During five days of the Exhibition, total number of 250 visitors had
visited the Exhibition. Graduate Student Sarvenaz Gafari, who
had attended in the Oikodomos Workshop in Istanbul, talked about her
experiences gained from the last semester’s master course and the
Workshop.
The possibilities of expanding and
extending the project have been discussed with the participants at the
very first day of the exhibition. The Dean Prof. Hoskara declared her
beliefs on the Oikodomos training can also be given to
non-professionals by the help of University Civic Education Center. Dr.
Ozmen-Mayer has presented her view on the ability of this innovative
learning method to train practicing architects with the collaboration of
Architects’ Chamber as required by UIA Directives in Cyprus as a
different way of lifelong education. By the help of the Deanship, the
exhibition has been designed to be held in other universities and
professional chambers in North Cyprus and Turkey in next days.
