The Program in Brief

Faculty of Architecture has long been aware of the importance of urban design and engaged with the issues of urban design both within its curricular and extra-curricular activities. The existing and the revised undergraduate curriculum of architectural education include compulsory and elective courses on urban design, which have proven to be complementary on the education since the establishment of the department. In the existing graduate program of architecture, a variety of courses on urban design have already added the quality of education significantly, and a great number of research have successfully been completed in the field as the department has witnessed a great demand from the applicants towards working in the field of urban design. The Urban Research& Development Center that was established within the auspices of the Faculty of Architecture (recently became a center under the University), on the other hand, has been active towards providing a supportive milieu through collaborating with local and international institutions.

In line with these, a new research degree opportunity is now offered within the Department of Architecture for students wishing to pursue advanced research leading to Master of Science in Urban Design.
