MS in Urban Design
Vision & Mission
In line with the aims deifned above, the vision of urban design program is to educate the students to specialize in the field of urban design focusing on improving urban spatial quality and physical form, and to evaluate the recent events concerning to urban design theories, practices, methods and the process. The mission of the urban design program, on the other hand, is to provide a high level of background about the expansion of urban design theory and methodology; and to improve the skills of implementation about improving the spatial quality of urban area.
With this aim, vision and mission in mind, the graduate urban design program provides the students to attain knowledge about:
- Urban design theory and policies
- Urban pattern and history, urban architecture and history in addition to evaluation of urban form, morphology and aesthetic
- Ecology, urban landscape, urban sociology, technical infrastructure, transportation and economy related to urban design
- Urban design methods and techniques
And improves the skills for:
- Research design
- Understanding the history of urban space and developing the proposals for the future
- Being creative in the process of urban design and using illustration techniques effectively
- Using scientific methods
- Developing alternative solutions
- Collaborative work
