Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Uğur Ulaş Dağlı, on the occasion of the World Museum Week, “Museums are the mirror of societies!” she posted a message entitled. prof. Dr. Dağlı made the following statements in his message:
“Museums are immortal memories that carry the past to the present, whatever the theme. Museums are the collective memories of countries! These buildings, which provide information about the past, form the social memory. The rapid change imposed on us by the age we live in and the phenomenon of making us forget the past once again reveal the importance of museums. Especially all over the world, there are museums with different themes and parallel city museums that convey the physical and social change of cities.
Contemporary Museums are carried out on a certain theme, with a systematic fiction. It does not only focus on displaying the product; It also has the feature of being places made for the purpose of research, education and enjoyment. In addition, it is a public place where people can socialize and learn by having fun for all age groups.
Since museums are generally strong education and socialization buildings, they are the most important public buildings of cities. They also contribute to tourism. In this sense, museums gain life in cities by re-functioning buildings that have lost their function; It also affects the development of the immediate environment of the area where it is located.
In this sense; We believe that the time has come to bring a contemporary museum that appeals to universal norms to our cities; We say Happy World Museum Day.”
