Program Description

A total of 9 compulsory core courses, two of which being advanced level of design studios, one elective course and a term project comprise the structure of the program.

Scientific aspects of various processes at design, implementation, performance and evaluation stages of buildings as well as topics on the basic issues of natural and man-made environments are examined as a part of the program. The topics to be further explored are solar energy utilization, building management, structures, acoustics, thermal performance of buildings, computer aided design, etc.

The two studios in the sequence provide in-depth studies of architectural problems that seek to integrate the forms, ideas, and technologies that anticipate construction. Projects may also explore the far boundaries of the discipline of architecture, participating in the research behind its continuing reinvention.
Students will have the opportunity to take an elective course in one of the areas of their own special interest. This elective may be selected from among those offered in the programs of the Faculty of Architecture as well as from other Faculties at  EMU , upon approval of the Department. Students are strongly encouraged to seek points of conjuncture between architecture and related disciplines that are most meaningful to their individual development as practitioners.

Duration

Students in full-time status are required to complete a minimum of 38 credit units and a term project (all together 90 ects credits) in 3 semesters (12 months maximum).
