Applicant Profile
The Master of Interior Architecture program is directed at and open to students / candidates who already hold a bachelor’s degree in interior architecture, architecture and industrial design  who wish to deepen their design abilities and expand their knowledge of contemporary theory, technology, and  sustainability, as well as professional issues in the discipline of interior architecture.

Program Description
The program is composed of six compulsory courses, two of which are advanced interior architecture design studios, four elective courses, and a term project.

The basic aims of the program are: within a multidisciplinary framework, to bring the students to a level capable of making research in the field of interior architecture; to help them capture, comprehend and solve important interior architectural issues and problems in their professional life; to help them bind theory and practice in interior architectural design; and to equip and prepare them to realize the scientific dimension of building functional relationships through application at different stages of design, together with issues regarding nature-built environment relationship. Meanwhile the students are encouraged to exercise in an advanced level via subjects like form, color, lighting, acoustics, and computer aided design within the program.    

In Interior Architectural design studios, interior architectural problems to be discussed and solved at various scales is aimed at the basis of integration of space, form, mass, concept and technology.

As a contribution to their professional development, it is embraced as a perspective of the program to make students work in the intersection of fields like Industrial Design, Architecture, and the other related disciplines.

 Duration of the Program
It is expected that the full-time students fulfill minimum 36 credits (64 ects* credit) in 2 semesters. Third semester cover a non-credit project.

Aims of the Program
With the successful completion of the program, the graduate candidate is expected to hold:

  • A criticizing perspective and expertise on interior architectural design theory,
  • Skills in developing advanced research methods,
  • A personal design standpoint that is effective and distinctive, and
  • Skills in understanding of philosophical and ideological discussions that constitute a basis for designing.

Terms of Application
The holders of application to the program are expected to complete at least a four-years bachelors degree from Interior Architecture. Other applicants from related departments like Industrial Design, or Architecture programs can apply the program and the graduate committee may decide about the deficiency courses they will take.
