Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Department regularly invites graduates as guest speakers as part of an event entitled “ALUMNI TALKS”. This semester’s guest speaker was successful Cypriot architect Çağrı Şanlıtürk, who pursued his postgraduate studies in Sheffield University in the UK following the completion of his undergraduate education in EMU. Şanlıtürk is currently a PhD student in the same university.
Extending his gratitude to all faculty members in EMU for their contributions, Şanlıtürk stated that the main reason he was admitted to Sheffield University was the quality education he received in EMU, without which he could not pursue success in his postgraduate and PhD studies.
During his presentation, Çağrı Şanlıtürk talked about the projects he undertook as part of the design courses he took during his undergraduate studies. Stressing the impact of the architecture education he received in EMU on the expansion of his horizons, Şanlıtürk provided information on how to become an efficient architect.
Following Çağrı Şanlıtürk’s seminar, EMU Architecture Department Chair Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek expressed how proud the department is on Şanlıtürk’s successful achievements and thanked Şanlıtürk for representing EMU in the best way possible.
At the end of the seminar, participating students asked questions to Çağrı Şanlıtürk about the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad as well as the education system of Sheffield University. Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek presented a certificate of appreciation to Şanlıtürk at the end of the event.
