EMU Faculty of Architecture Organizes Ahmet Vural Behaeddin Student Awards Competition
Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Rector's Office, Faculty of Architecture and the wife of Turkish Cypriot modernist architect Ahmet Vural Behaeddin, Tülin Bahaeddin, a traditional student awards competition was held in order to keep the works and memory of Ahmet Vural Behaeddin alive. Participation in the competition, which was organized for the 8th time this year by the EMU Faculty of Architecture, was quite intense.
In the competition held at EMU Faculty of Architecture, the jury handed over the awards determined in four categories to their owners. 3rd and 4th year students of the Architecture and Interior Architecture Departments of universities in the Republic of Turkey (TC) and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) participated in the competition. A total of 128 applications from 19 institutions were submitted to the competition, where students were expected to transform their projects for the specified academic year into a poster presentation with a graphically rearranged layout within the competition format.

Dr. EMU Faculty of Architecture Ahmet Vural Behaeddin Commission, consisting of Kağan Günçe, delivered the awards to their owners in a magnificent ceremony organized at the Naci Talat Foundation building in Nicosia.
Mehmet Harmancı, Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality, who made a speech at the night where Ahmet V. Behaeddin's contributors also received plaques, said that Ahmet V. Behaeddin has a very special and important place for the city of Nicosia, and the architectural works that can be accepted as direct evidence of the civilization level. He stated that he left a legacy and that they could develop projects together with the EMU Faculty of Architecture in order to keep his memory alive and carry it to future generations with its architecture.

The general coordinator of Ahmet Vural Behaeddin Student Awards Competition 2019 was Ekrem Ziver Bodamyalızade and Assoc. Dr. Banu Tevfikler Çavuşoğlu did. The participation of the invited jury members consisting of important architects and interior architects from Turkey and Northern Cyprus such as Nevzat Sayın, Esat Fişek, Ertuğ Ertuğrul, Ebru Olgun, Çağdaş Özgece, Resul Ergün, and the relevant chamber presidents and representatives is a very important step in raising the prestige of the competition to the point it deserves. happened.
In the contest, certificates were presented to all participants, and winners in 4 categories were presented with monetary awards under the sponsorship of Tülin Behaeddin. The winners of the competition were Salem A. Bader (EMU) in the Architecture 4th Year Category, Ayberk Özdemir (MEF) in the Architecture Year 3 Category, Malek Baher Jaroudi (EMU) in the Interior Architecture 4th Year Category, Interior Architecture 3rd Year Category. Maide Pelin Türk (Başkent University) was in the Year Category.
